Rivers State Vows to Prioritise Children’s Welfare

The wife of the Rivers State governor, Lady Valerie Fubara has reiterated the promise of the government to prioritise issues about children and youths.
A statement signed by the deputy media assistant to the wife of the governor, Elfreda Edori indicated that Lady Fubara spoke at the maiden edition of her Children’s Christmas party held at the Government House in Port Harcourt City the capital of Rivers State, southern Nigeria.
According to the release, Mrs. Fubara was delighted to host children from across Rivers State to a party to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, saying “as part of the determination of the present administration of Rivers State, under the guidance of my darling husband, the welfare and well-being of our children and other Rivers people are paramount.”
She urged parents and guardians to continually devote quality time to nurturing their children so that they can grow into responsible citizens.
“As parents, we must continue to do those things that are right before God and man in bringing up our children for the benefit of the larger society.
“For us, we will continue to do our best to pray for peace in our State so that there will be accelerated growth and development for the benefit of the people,” she stressed.
The party featured the cutting if a beautifully decorated Christmas cake and the presentation of gifts to children, who came in from the 23 local government areas including some Nigerians resident in Rivers State.
