Rivers United Crashes Out Of CAF Champions League.

Nigerian club Rivers United fell 3-0 to Moroccan side RS Berkane in their CAF Champions League final Group A fixture, finishing bottom of the group with one draw and five defeats.

Hosts RS Berkane asserted its authority early, opening the scoring in the 35th minute when Youssef Mehri fired into the bottom corner after a swift attacking move.

Berkane continued to dictate play and doubled its advantage in the 42nd minute, with Paul Valère Bassène finishing clinically after a precise through ball from Mounir Chouiar.

Rivers United struggled to cope with Berkane’s intensity and went into halftime trailing 2–0.

The home side sealed the result shortly after the restart. In the 53rd minute, Bassène struck again, this time converting from close range following a corner to complete his brace and put the contest beyond doubt.

Berkane controlled possession for the remainder of the match, limiting Rivers United to long-range efforts and half-chances.

The hosts comfortably saw out a convincing 3–0 victory to conclude their group-stage campaign in style.

Holders Pyramids FC defeated Power Dynamos of Zambia 3-1 in the other group game. The Egyptians finished top of the group with 16 points from six matches. Both Pyramids and Berkane advance to the knockout stages of the competition.

Meanwhile, George Finidi’s Rivers United finished their group stage campaign with one draw, and five defeats.
