The beneficiaries commended the Rotary Club for the gesture, describing the programme as timely, especially in view of the rising cost of healthcare.

Miss Justina Abel, one of the beneficiaries, who spoke with the reporters, commended the club for embarking on an impactful initiative that would enable people know their health status without incurring any cost.

Similarly, Miss Promise John said the free screening would enable indigent residents to know their health status without any financial burden.

Mr Godwin Yohanna , another beneficiary, said the exercise showed the club’s genuine concern for the health of members of the community.

The reports said that free medical screening provided beneficiaries with access to basic healthcare services, such as blood pressure checks and blood sugar tests.

Others are eye examinations, hepatitis and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), checks, general medical consultations, free medications, and referrals.
