Rwanda kicks off second phase of Covid-19 vaccination
Rwanda has on Saturday began its second phase of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccination.
The vaccine doses have already been distributed to more than 500 health centres across the country.
In a statement on Friday, Rwanda’s Ministry of Health said “following a successful roll out of Covid-19 vaccination campaign that saw 350,400 people inoculated, Rwanda will start a new nation-wide vaccination drive to fully immunize those who had previously received first doses of AstraZeneca vaccine.”
The country received an additional 247,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine through the COVAX mechanism, including 117,600 doses donated by the Government of France.
Rwanda has thus far recorded 26,913 positive coronavirus cases and 353 deaths.
