Salah Downplays Personal Awards as Liverpool March Toward Premier League Glory

Mohamed Salah has reaffirmed his commitment to Liverpool’s Premier League title chase, downplaying personal accolades such as the Ballon d’Or. Speaking after Liverpool’s emphatic 5-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday, the Egyptian forward highlighted the team’s collective goals.

“I’m not thinking about the Ballon d’Or. I want to win the Premier League,” Salah told Sky Sports. “There are other teams who want to catch up with us, but we have to stay humble and focused.”

Liverpool’s Dominance Under Arne Slot

Arne Slot’s Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the table to eight points, marking another step toward a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title. Sunday’s performance at the London Stadium showcased their dominance, with 23 wins in 27 matches this season.

The goals began with Luis Diaz breaking the deadlock, followed by Salah’s sublime setup for Cody Gakpo’s strike. Salah added his 20th goal of the season before halftime, further solidifying his influence. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota completed the rout, with Jota benefiting from another Salah assist.

Slot expressed satisfaction with his team’s display, saying, “I enjoyed it a lot because it doesn’t happen many times that I could just sit back and enjoy.”

Transfer Speculation

Despite rumors about the futures of Salah, Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk, Salah dismissed the distractions. “The only thing on my mind is I want Liverpool to win the league and I want to be part of that,” he said.
