As Muslims across the world celebrate this year’s Sallah, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State Chapter, Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, has called on Nigerians to pray for the victims of the recent flood in Mokwa Community

While congratulating the state governor and Muslim faithful, Yohanna, who is also the Catholic Bishop of the Kontagora Diocese, expressed hope that the challenges facing the state will soon be over.

The CAN Chairman urged Nigerlites to use the period for sober reflection and to seek God’s mercy.

According to him, “I want to urge us all to have hope in God and not give up on the challenges bedevilling the state, especially in light of the recent devastating flood that wreaked havoc in Mokwa Local Government Area.

“I urge every one of us, including the government, to be our brother’s keeper. Let us remember those who have lost loved ones in the flood and pray for the souls of the departed.”

He further implored all to love their neighbours, regardless of tribe or religion, adding, “Let us all be agents of peaceful coexistence, united on all fronts, and reach out to those in dire need—especially the people of Mokwa.”

While reiterating that Eid al-Kabir embodies love, peace, and sacrifice beyond the season, Bishop Yohanna called for tolerance, synergy, and cooperation to achieve the state’s desired goals.

The CAN Chairman also congratulated Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, the Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness the Etsu Nupe, all royal fathers, and the entire Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the Sallah celebration.
