The Gombe State Police Command has announced a comprehensive security strategy for Eid prayer grounds and surrounding areas, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of residents during the forthcoming Sallah festivities.
The Commissioner of Police for Gombe State, Mr. Bello Yahaya, said security personnel would be strategically deployed before, during, and after the celebrations to carry out route lining, traffic management, access control, crowd regulation, and surveillance.
He said officers from other security agencies and relevant stakeholders would also be involved, working closely with event organisers and local authorities to ensure smooth coordination.
According to him, all routes leading to and from the Eid ground (Eid Sarki) would be carefully managed to avoid traffic congestion and facilitate the easy movement of worshippers and other road users.
“Clearly marked access points will be in place, and security checks may be conducted to ensure public safety,” said CP Yahaya.
He urged worshippers to use only the designated entry and exit routes to support effective security screening and reduce overcrowding.
The Gombe State Command also issued a stern warning against indiscriminate vehicle parking, praying on roads, or blocking exit points, stressing that such actions could hinder emergency responses and compromise public safety.
The Commissioner of Police also urged the public to cooperate fully with law enforcement personnel, adhere to all traffic and security guidelines, and remain vigilant, saying, “Your support and compliance are crucial to ensuring a peaceful and incident-free celebration.” He added.
