Samsung Teams with Google for Project Moohan
Samsung recently announced its XR headset collaboration with Google, known as Project Moohan.
A demonstration of the device showcased a notable change: users summon the AI assistant with the “Hey Gemini” command instead of the familiar “Hey Google.” This development hints at new features and branding for the virtual assistant integrated with the device.
This isn’t surprising considering Google’s ongoing strategy of integrating Gemini AI’s multimodal features into more offerings.
Because it will have the Android XR interface, Samsung’s headset is expected to offer all new features from Gemini AI, including the ability to use Circle to search with gestures, view videos and photos on a virtual display using Google TV and Google Photos, or live translation and an immersive version of Google Maps.
Pricing and other details about the device are still unknown, but it will be available for purchase next year.
Meanwhile, Google said it is also working with other companies like Magic Leap on upcoming XR products that will have both AI and mixed reality features.
