Saudi’s KSrelief Expends $47m On Humanitarian Aid In Nigeria

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) says it expended a princely sum of $47m humanitarian aid to support 98 different projects across Nigeria in 2024.

The projects aimed at supporting displaced persons, improving healthcare, enhancing education, and empowering communities.

The Chief Operating Officer of Abubakr A-Sidiq Philanthropic Home, Farid Salman, disclosed this on Monday in Ilorin, Kwara State, during the distribution of empowerment materials and food items to orphanage homes.

The initiative, carried out in collaboration with KSrelief, seeks to alleviate hardship and uplift vulnerable groups across the country.

Salman emphasised KSrelief’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s humanitarian challenges, particularly in food security, education, and healthcare.

As part of the intervention in Kwara State, the partnership provided 10 tons of food items, 1,000 textbooks, and 5,000 exercise books to beneficiaries.

Additionally, the programme covered school fees for children, vocational training for 150 youths, the provision of 50 laptops to support digital education, financial aid for orphanages, and counseling services for children requiring emotional and psychological support.

Following the commissioning of the orphan support project, KSrelief and Abubakr A-Sidiq Philanthropic Home distributed essential food supplies to registered orphanages in the state. Items included 175 bags of 50kg rice, 150 bags of 50kg beans, 125 bags of 50kg cassava flour, and 75 bags of vegetable oil, alongside other staples such as semolina, tomato paste, noodles, pasta, and sugar.

Executive Director of Abubakr A-Sidiq Philanthropic Home, Sheikh AbdulRazzaq Salman,urged the wealthy to support orphans and called “on beneficiaries to use the empowerment materials to improve their livelihoods.”

Representing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, State Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Afees Abolore commended KSrelief and its partners for their commitment to the welfare of orphans and vulnerable groups.

The event was attended by prominent religious and community leaders, including the Imam of the National Mosque Abuja, Dr. Abdulkadir Salman Sholagberu; Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Mohammed Bashir Soliu; Imam Imale of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdullahi AbdulHameed; and the President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji AbdulMumini AbdulMalik.
