Over hundred members of the People’s Redemption Party PRP have defected to the Social Democratic Party SDP in Kebbi State, North western Nigeria.
The defectors, consisting of executives and supporters were received by the Kebbi State Chairman of the SDP Mr. Sani Siba Birnin-Kebbi at the Party’s office in Birnin Kebbi the State’s Capital.
The National Secretary of the SDP, Mr Shehu Gabam who confirmed the mass defection to Voice of Nigeria said that the “new Members were received by the Kebbi State Chairman of the SDP Mr. Sani Siba Birnin-Kebbi”
Report said that Mr Birnin-Kebbi expressed joy when he received the defectors into the party, and described their defection as great victory for the SDP and that “it didn’t come to him by surprise.
He assured the new members that “they would be integrated well into SDP and given equal opportunities in the party.”
The Chairman SDP Kebbi State Chapter said that the “SDP is a truly national political party that promotes equity and all democratic tenets.
He told the new defectors and journalists that SDP is now the biggest opposition party in Nigeria and that the “party will form government at the center in the upcoming 2023 General Election in Nigeria.
Among those who defected to the SDP, were the Chairman PRP Kebbi State Chapter Alhaji Aliyu Zura as well as the Kebbi State Secretary of PRP Alh. Atiku Mai Ahu and other leaders of PRP of the state.
Speaking to members of his new party the former PRP Kebbi State Chairman Alhaji Aliyu Zuru called on all the people in the State to join the SDP so that together they can save the State and Nigerians as a whole.
