According to the Head of Department, Criminology and Security Studies, Christ Land University, Dr. Kunle Olawumi, some of the causes of insecurity in Nigeria are  due to poor leadership and lack of political will.

In the same vein, the President of Crime Association of Nigeria, Mr. Odita Sunday says, thugs are always used during elections by politicians to cause chaos, they should stop using young citizens as thugs especially during elections. To end insecurity, all governors are the chief security officers in their states and they know the bad people and can fish them out easily”

“Government should have the interest of the nation at heart and also develop the country so that foreign investors will come and buy properties’’.  Mr. Odita Sunday explained.

‘Every year, we mark the international nations day against drugs and human trafficking. We also gather all security agencies under one roof to brain storm, to talk about insecurity in the land. We also advise government through our various media houses,’’ he said.

However, a security expert, Mrs. Tawa Ishiru, says for insecurity to be subdued in Nigeria, the Federal, state, and local governments should involve the young people especially the youths in governance, and also provide jobs for them in order to exhibit their talents and knowledge in the development of the country.
