Kaduna State government has announced the suspension of all weekly markets operating in Birnin Gwari, Igabi, Giwa, Chikun and Kajuru Local government areas with immediate effect.
It has also banned the selling of petrol in jerrycans within and outside the premises of fuel stations in the five local government areas listed above.
This was contained in a security update report and signed by the Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan in Kaduna.
The Commissioner said all security personnel have been directed to ensure compliance with the directives.
He urged citizens to cooperate with the government while necessary steps are being taken against banditry and criminality across the state.
