Security: Police temporarily bans protests in Kwara State

The Kwara State Police Command has temporarily banned any form of protest, rally, or gathering in the state.

According to the State Commissioner of Police, Paul Odama, this is to allow the command to evaluate and access the security situation in the state.

He further explained that the order became necessary due intelligence report indicating that hoodlums plans to hijack any rally or procession and use the process to cause chaos in the state

The Police boss added that although it was constitutional for citizens to protest peacefully if hijacked by hoodlums could lead to loss of lives and property which was unacceptable.

CP Odama also advised political party leaders to warn their supporters to desist from inciting violence and unguided statements on social, print and electronic media that are capable of inflaming crisis adding that raids on criminal hideouts would continue to ensure the safety and security of residents.
