The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, says the Nigerian economy, infrastructure and food security are subject to security of lives and property and as such will top his agenda, if elected President.
The presidential aspirant said this when he met with the Nigerian Guild of Editors on Sunday in Lagos-Nigeria.
Rabiu Kwankwaso described the security situation in the country as a disaster, noting that many farming and trading communities have become inaccessible because of insecurity. And this, he said, has disrupted economic activities in such places, leading to the upsurge in prices of staple foods and materials across the country.
He said, if elected President, his government will increase the number of security personnel in the Armed Forces and the Police to provide adequate protection for the citizenry.
Restructuring
The former Kano State Governor expressed his readiness to address all genuine agitations from all groups and individuals.
He also acknowledged the calls for State Police and Resource Control, agitations he believes are tied directly to the level of insecurity across the country.
“We are open to discussions and suggestions as well as criticism from across board,” said Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Education
Alhaji Kwankwaso reeled out some of his achievements in the education sector while he was the governor of Kano State.
He, however, argued that government can still fund the education sector, if it plugs all areas of waste in government expenditure as well as the continuous plundering of the nation’s oil resources in the Niger Delta.
Stepping Down
He debunked rumors of alleged pressures on him to step down for the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar. He described it as a mischievous game plan of the PDP.
“Note that NNPP is out to win the 2023 Presidential election,” he said.
