The Nigerian Senate says it will continue to partner with the Attorney General and Minister of Justice to ensure that the legal system reflects the Nation’s dynamism and contemporary reality.
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Age stated this at a public presentation of a book titled “Contemporary Issues in Nigerian Law and Practice” in honour of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Makami, in Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.
Commending the Minister for initiating reforms that led to a lot of legal frameworks which have been passed into law, the Deputy Senate President reiterated the National Assembly’s synergy towards actualising set objectives in the Ministry.
”With the increasing need to ensure prompt an effective management of the Nigerian government’s agenda, the National Assembly is collaborating with the Ministry of Justice on joint review of bills,”he said.
The Deputy Senate President also commented Mr Malami for his contribution in promoting rule of law and especially his role repatriation of looted funds.
“His initiatives and concerted efforts have helped in proffering solutions to the contemporary challenges in the justice system,” he added.
In his keynote address, Mr. Oladipo Okpeseyi described the author as a thorough-bred professional and an astute progressive with an amiable disposition.
“The book was borne out of Malami’s quest for excellence, dedication and foresight,” he stated.
The Author of the book, Abubakar Malami said the significant of unveiling the book was to let generations to come learn from its relevance.
“The book, I believe will promote legal jurisprudence, reading culture and to let people outside this clime know more about Nigeria’s legal system,” he said.
