The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Saliu Mustapha, has commenced the distribution of multimillion Naira food palliatives for thousands of constituents across the 52 wards of the senatorial district in Kwara State.
The items consist of thousands of bags of rice and other food commodities.
The Legislative Assistant to the lawmaker, AbdulKadri Tunde, who spoke at the distribution of the palliatives, said the items would primarily target the less privileged members of the society, political loyalists across the wards and LGAs of the district, community and religious stakeholders, with special provisions for adherents of the Christian faith.
He said the gesture was to assist the beneficiaries to have memorable festivities considering the skyrocketing prices of food commodities in the country, which are the major items mostly needed for the festive period.
The legislative aide stated that the items distributed were in furtherance of his principal’s passion to identify with the people.
He also said it’s a token of support for the Kwara State Government led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak, who has invested heavily in the provision of palliatives in recent times.
“The distribution of these items is to lessen the hardship in the country and support our Christian faithful, party leaders and members across the wards, our supporters and less privileged for them to have a joyous celebration during this festive period.
“We all know the cost of rice and chicken in the market now, and that is why the Senator approved the distribution of these items amongst our people to alleviate their sufferings,” he added.
