‘Seven Doors’, ‘Abanisete’ Lead BON Awards Nominee List

The Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards has announced its 2025 nominees across 25 categories, introducing a new “Best Series” category to recognize Nollywood’s expanding embrace of serialized storytelling.

The announcement was made in Lagos on Monday, celebrating creativity, innovation, and excellence in Nigerian cinema.

The event drew prominent filmmakers, actors, and industry stakeholders, spotlighting the achievements that have shaped Nigeria’s movie industry over the past year.

Leading the pack are Seven Doors and Abanisete, earning nine and eight nominations respectively, and dominating major categories such as Best Director, Best Actor, and Movie of the Year.

Farmer’s Bride and My Mother Is a Witch follow closely with multiple nominations across creative and technical categories.

Best Actor nominees: Ibrahim Yekini (Abanisete), Gideon Okeke (Blackout), Femi Adebayo (Seven Doors), Razaq Adoti (Son of the Soil), Tobi Bakre (Farmer’s Bride), and Jide Awobona (Inspector Jero).

Best Actress: Folu Storms (Red Circle), Gbubemi Ejeye (Farmer’s Bride), Padita Agu (Blackout), Efe Irele (My Mother Is a Witch), Chioma Chukwuka (Seven Doors), and Florence Nwachukwu (Fury).

The Best Kiss category features Tobi Bakre & Gbubemi Ejeye, Timini Egbuson & TJ Omusuku, Kunle Remi & Tope Olowoniyan, Padita Agu & Demola Adedoyin, and Tobi Bakre & Folu Storms.

Best Director nominees: Niyi Akinmolayan, Adebayo Tijani, Tope Adebayo, Jack’enneth Opukeme, and Toka McBaror.

Movie of the Year: Abanisete, My Mother Is a Witch, Farmer’s Bride, The Waiter, Her Excellency, The Serpent’s Gift.

The new Best Series category includes The Party and Seven Doors.

Other highlights:

– Best Supporting Actor: Stan Nze, Femi Branch, Adedimeji Lateef, Buchi Franklin, Taye Arimoro, Neo Akpofure.

– Best Supporting Actress: Mercy Aigbe, Bolaji Ogunmola, Tina Mba, Susan Jimah, Kehinde Bankole.

– Best Social Message: Out in the Darkness, My Mother Is a Witch, Fury, Longing, Mayomi, Blackout, Single Mother.

– Best Costume: Owambe Thieves, Abanisete, Iyalode, Seven Doors, Olomi, The Serpent’s Gift.

– Best Sound/Soundtrack: Red Circle, Agemo, Reel Love, My Mother Is a Witch, Olomi.

– Best Child Performers: Ahmad Isa, Yoma Davidson, Royal Aziomaku, Adeshina Daniel, Ijelu Folajimi, Darasimi Nadi, Diva Owoniyi.

– Most Promising: Razaaq Adoti, Yomi Orimadegun, Dolapo Oyebamiji, Lila Idoko, Sylvia Ebere.

– Best Production, Screenplay, and Effects: Seven Doors, Abanisete, Labake Olododo, Iyalode, Agemo.

– Best Documentary: Beyond Olympic Glory, Nigeria Laughs, Not Addressing This Anymore.

The 2025 BON Awards holds December 14 in Lagos, featuring a Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Red Carpet.
