In the spirit of Ramadan, Seyi Tinubu, son of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, recently hosted a special Iftaar (breaking of fast) in Kano State, North West Nigeria, demonstrating a commitment to community service and national unity.

The initiative, which aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration, brought together members of the local community, religious leaders and prominent political figures from across party lines.

The event began at the Al-Furqan Mosque, where Iftaar packages were distributed to the less privileged, reflecting the core values of Ramadan: compassion and generosity. Later, at the Amani Event Centre, Seyi Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement (RHYE) team hosted a larger gathering, welcoming people from various backgrounds.

In a rare display of political unity, the Iftaar was attended by notable personalities such as the Kano State NNPP Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, the son of Kano Governor Al-Amin Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the son of APC National Chairman Muhammad Abdullahi Ganduje, among other key political stakeholders from both parties.

This cross-party participation underscores a potential shift towards greater collaboration in a region often marked by political divisions.

Before the event, Seyi Tinubu met with Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in what observers viewed as a significant engagement, given the state’s political dynamics.

He also paid a courtesy visit to prominent businessman Aminu Dantata, where they discussed social and developmental issues.

Speaking at the iftar, Seyi Tinubu emphasised the importance of social welfare and community service, particularly during Ramadan, a time known for charity and reflection in the Muslim world. He reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives aimed at supporting the underprivileged and fostering national cohesion.

The feeding programme, part of a broader grassroots engagement effort, is expected to provide meals to thousands of fasting Muslims, reinforcing connections between leaders and the public during the holy month.
