Shiroro dam: Niger State seeks compensation of Communities affected

Niger State government in North Central Nigeria has appealed to Federal Ministry of Power to urgently compensate communities affected by the construction of hydro Shiroro dam.
The State Governor, Abubakar Bello made the appeal during a visit to the Internally Displaced Persons Camp in Central Primary School Gwada, Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Bello said over 4, 000 IDPs in Gwada camp comprised those displaced by bandits and water backwash due to the ongoing construction of Zungeru Hydro Dam.
According to him, those displaced by the construction of Zungeru Hydro Dam were yet to be compensated by the Nigerian Government.
The Governor also said that newly planted explosives by Boko Haram insurgents have been detected by security operatives in Galadima-Kogo, Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
He further stated that police were working hard to detonate the newly discovered explosives, promising that IDPs would soon go back to their homes.
Governor Bello frowned at the activities informants across the state, stressing that many of them have been arrested by security operatives in the last few weeks and would be severely dealt with.
He added that more security operatives have been deployed to the state and new strategies were been adopted in dealing with the situation.
