The Caretaker Chairman of Shongom Local Government Area of Gombe State, Mr. Yohanna Nahari has described the victory of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for second term as Governor of Gombe state as a true reflection of the wishes of the people of the State.
Mr. Nahari who spoke to Voice of Nigeria’s Correspondent in a telephone interview, noted that the rapid developmental projects such as construction of road network across the state, health care facilities, job creation and infrastructural development earned him his second term bid from the people of the state who believe he will do more if re-elected.
He also noted that continuity in governance is very essential especially when the incumbent Government have ongoing projects in the state.
“Our people have seen the performance of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya developmental projects in his first term in office and some of the ongoing projects in the state, that is why they rallied round with the governor to ensure that he wins his second term ambition so that he can finish all the ongoing projects and do more”
The LGA boss noted that governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has provided the dividends of democracy in all the eleven local government areas of the state hence his re-election as governor by the people.
“In Shongom Shongom Local Government Area where I represent my people have enjoyed the dividends of democracy as governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has invested hug amount of money in human development projects such as schools, roads, hospitals and many others, so this victory is not for the governor alone but for the entire people of Gombe State,” he stressed.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, as the winner of the Governorship Election in Gombe State.
The State Returning Officer for Gombe State Governorship Election, Professor Maimuna Waziri, said Governor Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored the highest votes of 342, 821 to defeat his closely followed Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Mohammed Jibrin Barde, who scored 233, 131.
Professor Waziri, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State, said in all, there was a total of 1,575, 794 registered voters, 618, 231 were accredited voters: 605,355 were valid votes, while rejected votes were 11, 390 and 616, 745 were total votes cast.
