Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, has expressed unhappiness with the outcome of his team’s 0-1 loss at Enyimba on Match Day 20 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba, Abia State.

Ogunbote believes that his side deserved to take “a point” from the contest against the defending champions after giving their “all.” He explained that the goal his team conceded from Chijioke Mbaoma’s strike on the stroke of halftime was due to “careless” approach in dealing with the passage of play by his men.

However, the former Enyimba and Remo Stars manager said there are “positives” to take away from the loss in Aba.

“The game has been won and lost. We will take the positives. Be it as it may, sometimes, you give it your all but you don’t get the desired result. At worse, we deserve a point from this game,” Ogunbote said.

“We were careless with the goal we conceded today. It’s a situation we could have avoided. Sometimes, it happens like that in the game. We will go back home, pick up the pieces and let’s see what happens.”

Despite the defeat at Enyimba, Ogunbote is confident that 3SC can pull their weight in a field of big competitors in the business end of the NPFL season.

He is sure that his team will get into the groove as the second round of the campaign progresses.

“This is the first game,” said Ogunbote with confidence. “We still have 18 games in the second stanza. All we need to do is to see what we needed to do that we didn’t do right in this game, and once we get that done, I’m sure we will get it right.”

Ogunbote and his men will hope to improve on their 12th position on the standings when they face Plateau United in another away fixture on Sunday, February 25th, 2024.
