Six People have lost their lives when a boat capsized with 48 passengers at Gbara Village in Mokwa Local government area of Niger State in North-Central Nigeria.
The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency Ibrahim Inga who confirmed the accident, Say’s “the boat which took off from Lanchikagi village of Lavun local government capsized Gbara area of Mokwa local government area on Friday evening around 6:30pm.“
The cause of the incident according the the DG Niger State Emergency Agency was as a result of heavy downpour which was accompanied by violent windstorm.
Inga who however said search and rescue operations are still ongoing, mentioned that 6 bodies have been recovered , 37 persons survived, while 5 persons still missing.
