The newly appointed Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria,(SMEDAN), Mr Charles Odii has assumed duty as the 6th Chief Executive of Agency.

Mr. Odii while addressing the management staff of the commission after his assumption of duty said the goals will remain unchanged but the processes may be revamped and strengthened to support the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He emphasised on the key role MSMEs play as the key drivers of the economy and bedrock for employment generation while stressing the need to provide all the financial and non financial support they need for growth.
The new Director-General further stated that he intends to set up an advisory Council comprising of seasoned entrepreneurs and professionals who will provide advisory services on how to assist MSMEs in an accelerated manner.
Mr. Odii promised to leverage on digital technologies to accelerate the rapid Formalisation of Small businesses in partnership with relevant agencies.
He gave the assurance that under his watch there will be a democratisation of access to resources required for all SMEs in Nigeria regardless of their location.
According to him, “We will build production hubs where MSMES will get access to affordable equipment to mass produce, showcase their products to the world and master story telling exhibitions to ensure they export value.”
Mr Charles Odii was appointed on October 13 2023 by Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
