The sole path to a nation’s development lies in fostering unity and ensuring peaceful coexistence among various religious groups and scholars, says an Imam at the National Mosque in Abuja, Dr AbdulKadir Al-Salman Sholagberu.
Sholagberu stated this while giving his Inaugural Jumat Prayer and sermon at the National Mosque, Abuja.
According to him, it is only through unity, and righteous scholars that a nation will attain progress.
“And if your Lord had willed, He could have made mankind one community; but they will not cease to differ, except whom your Lord has given mercy. And for that, He created them,” Sholagberu referenced a verse from the Holy Quran.
He implored scholars of the nation, to close ranks stressing that if God wants a nation to be awake, He inspires it with the awakening of individuals, noting that preachers need to clarify the part before setting in.
He urged preachers and scholars to learn from one another while also forgiving each other for there to be advancement and progress in society.
Sholagberu urged Muslims to refrain from hiding grudges, hatred, lies, hypocrisy, drinking alcohol, adultery, embezzlement, and false reports.
“May God let me and you reach Ramadan, accept our offerings in it, and may God return it to us and you for many years and times,” prayed Sholagberu.
Similarly, a former Grand Khadi, Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal and Executive Secretary, Kwara State Council of Ulama, Retired Justice Salihu Mohammed, who represented the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Council of Ulama at the session, affirmed that Sholagberu is up to the task and urged everyone to give him their support.
The retired jurist urged Nigerians to peacefully coexist with one another.
The Sultan of Sokoto, and Spiritual Leader of Nigeria Ummah, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar the third and other prominent Nigerians, politicians, elder statesmen and scholars also observed Jumaat prayers at the National Mosque.
