The Nigerian Army says it will continue to promote synergy with sister security agencies through sports and other related activities in Sokoto State.
Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, stated this shortly after a friendly match between the Division football team and Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) in Giginya Cantonment in Sokoto.
General Ajose said the friendly football was aimed at improving synergy among the security operatives in the state.
He noted that the match will continue to go a long way in providing more avenues to share intelligence among security agencies in the state for the overall security of the country.
The GOC represented by Deputy Chief of Staff in the Division, Colonel Amadike Unaogu, commended FRSC for initiating the exercise and allowing the army to host the match.
He expressed satisfaction with the way the players display a high sense of morality and talent during the game.
The Acting GOC pledged to promote more synergy beyond football games.
“I urge both personnel to continue to maintain this relationship with each other and other security operatives, not just in football matches, but other sporting events.
“We will continue to organize this type of game beyond football and to also serve as an avenue for boosting your talent and morale to enable you to discharge your responsibilities effectively,” he noted.
Also speaking, the FRSC Sector Commander, Abdullahi Maikano, thanked the 8 division Nigerian Army for hosting the match aimed at boosting the morale and synergy among the personnel of the two security operatives.
Maikano assured that more events would be organised to promote cooperation not only with the Nigerian Army but between other security operatives in the state.
At the end of the friendly football match Nigerian Army (Eagle Team) defeated the FRSC team 1-0.
The highlights of the match were the presentation of prizes and souvenirs to players who distinguished themselves during the game among others.
