Sokoto: Army Sensitises Troops on Nuclear Terrorism, Dangers of Drug Abuse

The Nigerian Army has organised a one day sensitisation seminar on warriors and ethos chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear terrorism drugs and substance abuse for troops in sokoto state.
Declaring the seminar open by the special Guest of Honor, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, said the interection is one of the many measures emplaced by Nigerian Army to mitigate the challenges face by troops while operating in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous security environment.
“In this wise, the Nigerian Army has continued to review its tactics, techniques and procedures in order to come up with both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to defeat these challenges,” he said.
He added that the seminar is premised on the needs to improve the capacity of Nigerian Army personnel towards enhancing warrior ethos and the battle mentality and would highlight the threats of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear terrorism in the country.
He noted that the preveilling incidence of drugs and substance abuse among troops deployed in theatres of operations has become worrisome which necessitate troops’ in a bid to enhance combat effectiveness.
The COAS represented by Acting General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, urged commanders at all levels to continue to come up with innovative ideas to upscale their approaches towards improving man-management and battle readiness.
He further appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his continuous strategic guidance and support to the Nigerian Army, “We reassured the unalloyed loyalty of the officers and men of the Nigerian Army under my watch to the President Commander-in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The COAS also commended the Department of Transformation and Innovation for organizing the seminar which would help the Nigerian Army raise the standard that is required to deliver on its constitutional mandates.
In his welcome remarks, the Chief of Transformation and Innovation, Army Headquarters Major General Zakari Abubakar, said the seminar was organised to optimize the leadership capacity of junior and middle cadre officers as well as to intensify warrior ethos and check the menace of substance abuse among troops.
“This seminar is aimed at creating awareness and measures to suppress the acts of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear terrorism among troops of the Nigerian Army,” he said.
He noted that the theme of the seminar: “Optimising Warrior Ethos in the Nigerian Army: A panacea for operations Effectiveness” is in line with the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy, “To Transform the Nigerian Army in to a well-Trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force Towards Achieving our Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint Environment.”
He also said the theme captures the desire of Nigerian Army to rejig the fighting spirit of its personnel.
He thanked the chief of Army Staff for his support toward actualising the seminar.
General Abubakar reassured the COAS the commitments of the Department of Transformation and Innovations that it will not relent in its oars towards the realisation of his command philosophy.
