The Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital UDUS/UDUTH Branch, (NAMDA), has inaugurated its first Executives.
The inauguration was held at the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA Headquarters, Sokoto State.
Those inaugurated were Chairman, Dr Yahaya Muhammad, Vice Chairman, Dr Usman Waziri and Secretary of the Association, Dr Murtala Abubakar.
Others are: Dr Bello Usman as Deputy Secretary, Dr Kasim Sai’du as Treasurer, Dr Fatima Bello as Financial Secretary, Dr Aliyu Koko Public Relations Officer, while Dr Lukman Ajiboye as welfare Secretary and Dr Sufyanu Umar Yabo as Internal Auditor.
In his acceptance Speech, the new Chairman, Dr Yahaya Muhammad, said any medical Doctor or Dental Surgeon registered with Medical and Dental Council employed either full time, regular or contract engages in researches, lecturing and training is a member of the new association.
“Any medical Doctor or surgeon who engages in the research, lecturing, teaching or training of students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and also medical and dental practioners undergoing residency training program shall be deemed to be a member,” he explained.
According to him, the major objective of the association is to promote, protect and defend a just and proper condition of service of its members.
Academic system
He said that the association was set up to encourage more participation of members in the affairs of tertiary health and academic system of the nation.
Dr Muhammad further elaborated that the association is a newly establish that was registered in October and inaugurated the new and first Executives November, 2022.
The Chairman also noted that the association has no any connection with Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU it’s stand as Independent trade Union organisation.
