The Sokoto State Government has applauded BUA Cement Company for donating N344 million in solar-powered boreholes and school uniforms to communities in the Wamakko local government area.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu made the commendation at the official commissioning of BUA community development projects in Sokoto.
He said the gesture marks a significant milestone in a collective effort to foster sustainable development and improve the quality of life of people in the state.
He appreciated BUA for its commitment to cooperate social responsibility, which signifies a good relationship between the government and private sectors.
“The BUA cement community development projects is a testament to what can be achieved when the private sector and government work hand in hand for the common good.
“Community development is the cornerstone of any thriving society. It is through initiatives like this that we can address the pressing needs of our communities, create opportunities for growth and ensure brighter future for next generations to come.
“The projects undertaken by BUA cement ranging from infrastructure development to educational support and healthcare initiatives are vital in uplifting our communities and driving socioeconomic progress,” he said.
Governor Aliyu, represented by Commissioner of Water Resources, Aminu Abdullahi, noted that the state government remains committed to providing similar support to improve the living standards of people.
He urged the benefiting communities to take full ownership towards maximizing the benefits of the projects.

Also in his remarks, the Managing Director of BUA Cement, Engineer Yusuf Binji, said the company always gives utmost priority and dictates itself to offering free interventions to improve their living standards.
“At BUA cement, giving back to our communities is of paramount importance to us. We are dedicated and committed to giving back to our host communities to add value to our common relationship, which is mutual and beneficial.
“We no doubt, sincerely appreciate the enormous and genuine support and cooperation of our host communities as well as the state over the years.
“The success story of the company will have been possible without the sincere support from them and the state,” he said.
The MD, represented by Assistance Director Administration and Corporate Services of the company, Mr. Sada Suleiman, said the seven solar-powered boreholes and over 4200 uniform sets for students of five primary schools are worth over N343 million.
He noted that the gesture was part of the company’s efforts to compliment government commitments towards providing portable drinking water and effective educational development in the state.
Binji appreciated Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, for his support and advice to BUA Cement towards enhancing educational development at the primary level and other living standards.
The Managing Director also said the company donated 150 tonnes of cement for repair of communal facilities like cemeteries, mosques and drainages
In his remarks, the Chairman, Wamakko local government area, Umar Dundaye, appreciated BUA Cement for the interventions in the communities.
He assured that the communities would utilise the facilities and uniforms provided by the company for the benefit of people in the area.
