Sokoto Governor applauded for executing developmental projects

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Sokoto State Council has applauded Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for executing people oriented projects for sustainable socio-economic development in the State.

State Council Chairman, Comrade Isah Shuni, made the commendation shortly after leading a delegation of Journalists on inspection tour to ongoing construction of Sokoto State University Teaching Hospital and Government Girls Science Academy.

Comrade Shuni said the tour was part of NUJ commitment to update people of the state on the ongoing projects being executed across the state by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal administration.

According to him, the projects would go a long way in keeping people abreast on how their resources are being expended.

“The tour will explore more on the level of progress reach so far by the administration of Governor Tambuwal especially in the area of human capital development,” the Chairman said.

Shuni commended the construction company handling the two projects Calder Construction Company for the quality and speed at which the projects are being carried out.

Earlier, the Consultant Engineer at construction site of Sokoto State Teaching Hospital, Architect Kabiru Yabo, said the projects was awarded at the sum of N6.8 billion and with completion period of 30 months.

Architect Yabo added that the hospital after completion would provide tertiary health service delivery to citizenry in the State.

The members also visited the construction site of Government Girls Science Academy where the work recorded huge successes.

Addressing the delegation, the Managing Director of Calder Construction Company, Mr Mahmoud Sarki, explained that the contract was awarded at the sum of N2.4 billion by the State government.

According to him, the new school comprises of 36 classrooms, four laboratories, an e-library, hostels, and staff quarters among others.

Sarki assured that the contract would be completed within the stipulated period of 18 months.
