Sokoto LG Polls: Police restricts vehicular movement

The Sokoto State Police Command says there will be no vehicular movements from 6 am to 4 pm on Saturday, 27 March, excepts those on essential services.

The Command said the restrictions are part of efforts to maintain adequate security for the conduct of smooth local government election.

In a statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, the Police also called on the good people of Sokoto state to be law-abiding and desist from any act that will constitute violence or disrupt the voting exercise.

According to the statement, the State Police Command is therefore appealing to all political parties and their members to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the elections.

“Note that anyone caught violating electoral rules shall be dealt with in accordance with provisions of the law,” the statement added

The Command said all necessary arrangements have been put in place by Sokoto state police in collaboration with all sister security agencies to ensure smooth conduct of the local government election across the state.
