The chairperson of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) and wife of the 8 Division General Officer Commanding (GOC), Mrs. Meg Ndidi Ajose, has inaugurated a remodelled vocational centre and trained no fewer than 115 women.

Mrs. Ajose, while inaugurating the centre, described it as an excellent initiative that would augment the Federal Government skills acquisition training initiative aimed at promoting self-reliance.

She said the remodelled centre was equipped with modern equipment and specialised instructors, training people on tailoring, catering, handcraft, beauty makeup, and computer literacy, among other skills.

“We are not only providing a conducive learning environment for our children but also empowering them with the knowledge, skills and values necessary to succeed in life.

“I urge instructors, youths, women and other categories of students to make good use of the facilities in the school,” she said.

She explained that based on the government initiative, students at all levels were enjoined to combine educational learning with skills acquisition training to boost productive engagements in all sectors.

The Chairperson commended the NAOWA Zonal Coordinator and wife of the 8 Division Garrison Commander, Mrs. Anne Omoh Tawasimi, on her tireless efforts and sacrifices for making the project a reality.

Earlier, the NAOWA Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Anne Tawasimi, said at present no fewer than 115 women have graduated from different sections in the centre.

Tawasimi revealed that the centre was initially handed over to her in poor condition, but with the support of her husband, the Garrison Commander, extensive renovations were undertaken to bring it up to standard.

She explained that every structure was upgraded to create a state-of-the-art facility, emphasising that the centre is more than just a building—it symbolises hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for the children.

Tawasimi highlighted that the facility now includes well-furnished offices, classrooms, toilets, and a staff room, all designed to create a conducive learning environment.

She urged citizens to support NAOWA’s efforts in promoting academic excellence, fostering innovation and creativity, and nurturing a sense of community and social responsibility.

Speaking on behalf of the graduating students, Miss Peace Godwin expressed gratitude to Mrs. Tawasimi for the opportunity, noting that the empowerment training has opened doors to meaningful and productive engagement in their lives.
