The Sokoto State through the Ministry of Health has received 34,404 doses of Moderna vaccines from National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) to expand coverage of vaccination against COVID-19 Pandemic across the State.

The Commissioner for Health and Chairman State Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr Ali Inname stated this while briefing newsmen shortly after the State Executive Council meeting at government house chamber in Sokoto.
He explained that the moderna vaccines would be distributed across various centres in the twenty three local government areas of the State for immediate application to persons from eighteen years and above.
Dr Inname explained it clear that the moderna vaccines have been certified safe and effective by the regulating Agencies including NAFDAC in Nigeria.
He advised people in the state to access the vaccines, by those who have not been vaccinated with Astrazeneca vaccine.
He said anybody who has received Astrazeneca immunization should not take moderna, but await the second dose (phase) of Astrazeneca Vaccine.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the performance of the State in COVID-19 Vaccination during the first phase implementation excercise.
Also on gastreonteritis, the Dr Inname said about 16 local government are so far affected.
He said the state has 242 active cases who are receiving medical attention at various health facilities across the state.
He explained that the state recorded 18 death from the disease within one week.
Dr Inname added that the state government had procured drugs worth million of naira and had already been distributed to health facilities across the state.
According to him, state surveillance team has also intensify enlightenment campaign to grassroots communities.
The Commissioner, however, said the State Executive Council had also approved upgrade of three Primary Health Cares to general hospitals.
The PHCs include: Sanyinna in Tambuwal, Achida in Wurno, Kuchi in Kebbe and Salame in Gwadabawa local governments.
