Sokoto State Government Empowers 100 Women And Youths

The Sokoto State government has empowered one hundred (100) women and youths on tailoring and other hand works for socioeconomic development of the state.

The training was conducted by the ministry for local government and community development in collaboration with the office of Special Adviser on community development.

Graduating the beneficiaries, the Commissioner Ministry for local government and community development, Ibrahim Dadi-Adare, said the training was part of Governor Aliyu campaign promises.

He added that the Governor made several campaign promises including youth and women empowerment in the state.

“the graduation is a clear testimony of the fulfilment the promises he made which the ministry for local government is supporting to ensure actualisation if the pledged.

” the ministry today is graduating 100 youth and women in to tailoring and other hand works,” he said.

He noted that the gesture would go a long way to assist in changing many narratives in the society.

“we conduct this because we expect by training youth and women in to tailoring and other hand works many people will tap from their experience for overall socioeconomic development of the state.

“It was also with the intentions to empower them and make them self reliant in the society,” he added.

Dadi-Adare said the graduands would benefit with a set of tailor machines and take off funds of N20,000 cash to enable them commence their business smoothly.

He noted that the programme is second phase, while assuring the commitments of Governor Ahmed Aliyu administration to continue to deliver more dividends of democracy in the state.

The Commissioner urged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity to utilize the equipment received to improve their living standard.

Also, the Special Adviser on Youth Empowerment, Alhaji Garba Kebbe, said the empowerment was part of Governor Aliyu 9-Points smart agenda in the state.

He commended the governor for timely release of funds for implementation of the programme.

The Special Adviser assured people of the state to continue to support and cooperate with present administration as more dividends of democracy are underway for sustainable development of the state.
