Sokoto State Government Restores Power Supply To Community

The Sokoto state Commissioner for Energy and Petroleum Resources, Mr Sanusi Danfulani said government has restored full power supply to Durbawa Community in Kware local government area of the state.

Danfulani stated this while inspecting the project and handing it over to the community for effective monitoring and safe guarding.

According to him, the visit was part of directives given by Governor Ahmed Aliyu to commissioners to ensure every project approved under their ministry is properly supervise and ensure quality and timely completion.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of the work, reaffirming the present administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s commitment to continue to deliver more dividends of democracy in the state.

Take full ownership

Danfulani charged the community to take full ownership of the project for their overall benefits.

In a related development, earlier the commissioner appear before the Sokoto state Assembly Committee on Science and Technology in response to their invitation following their oversight visit in his absence.

He explained that the lawmakers had visited his Ministry for oversight while he was attending a State Executive Council meeting with the State Governor.

At the time the committee visited the Ministry, I was attending a State Executive Council meeting with His Excellency Ahmed Aliyu, the Executive Governor of Sokoto State. We happened to miss each other.

“The issue has been finally resolved. I appeared before the committee and explained the communication gap that occured between them and the ministry, but now we aligned ourselves and resolved to work together for the interest of the State.

“And God willing we plan to receive them in due course,” he said.

On the state ongoing Independent Power Project (IPP), he noted that all necessary equipment required to reboot the maribond power have provided except for those still expected from abroad.

By the time those ones arrive, the IPP will be effectively working, and I think that won’t be too long maybe in the next couple of months. Upon completion, the IPP will be operational and beneficial to the state,” he stated.

He further stated that the Sokoto Independent Power Project reached 80% level of completion.

The Commissioner also clarified that the state is not partnering with the federal government or any of its agency on the IPP, contrary to speculations.
