Sokoto State: NSCDC arrests 4 suspected kidnappers

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Sokoto State Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers.

Briefing Journalists on the development in Sokoto, the State Commandant, Muhammad Saleh Dada, said the command used effective intelligence to follow their movement and were able to arrest the suspects at Niger State.

It took us a very long time by using intelligence to pursue them up to Niger State in Lapai and Manigi to arrest them in collaboration with the Niger State Command of NSCDC.

The Niger State NSCDC has given us tremendous support through their officers and men toward arresting the suspected kidnappers,” Commandant Dada said.

According to him, they succeeded in arresting one Mustapha Dan Sani who has been an informer and a notorious kidnapper that has been wanted for all the security operatives in the country

Unfortunately this Dan Sani is not even from the country, he’s a citizen of Niger Republic.

“In conjunction with one Umar Muhammad who is among the kidnappers they do invite others to Sokoto to carry out their operations.

“These people have mentioned names of about 50 other high profile kidnappers and their locations.

“The suspects also gave us information of how the movement of arms by the kidnappers that are coming from Niger and how to intercept them,” he added.

Dada explained that the two suspected kidnappers are the offshoot of notorious bandit Dogo Gide stronghold.

He added that the command had also succeeded in arresting Abubakar Danmalam who is popularly known as Chairman and who is normally used to keep weapons for the Kidnappers after operations and he had already confessed.

He said the other one is Dalhatu Abubakar who have been kidnapping people in the Rabah local government area of Sokoto State and he also accepted his offence.

He noted that as soon as investigation is concluded the suspect would face the full wrath of the law.

Commandant Dada urged people to always cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that would assist in bringing an end to these unacceptable acts.
