Soludo To Absorb Corps Members Into ‘One Youth, Two Skills’ Programme

The governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has promised to absorb a total of one hundred Corps members into the State Government’s youth development and empowerment programme tagged ‘One Youth, Two Skills solutions’ programme.

Governor Soludo emphasised that the selected beneficiaries, just like other youths across the state would be supported to acquire training in two new skills and would be empowered to setup up their own entrepreneurial outfit at the end of their training.

The governor stated this at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp Umuawulu/Mbaukwu Awka South Local Government Area (LGA), of the state,during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch B stream 2 Orientation course programme held on Tuesday September 5,2023.

Governor Soludo enjoined the Corps members to take advantage of the opportunity and other youth focused policies of his administration.

The governor who was represented at the event by the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Honourable Patrick Aghamba, asserted that about 4000 youths have already been trained in 22 different skills and will soon be empowered to set up their own enterprises.

Speaking further, Soludo reminded the Corps members of the importance of unity and national cohesion to national development.

No matter our diverse backgrounds, we are all Nigerians bound together by common destiny, ” he stated.

We must strive to promote peace, harmony and tolerance amongst ourselves and works towards building a stronger and more prosperous nation.”

Unwavering commitment

The Commissioner for Youth Development who is also the Chairman of State NYSC State Governing Board, Hon Aghamba in a separate speech read by the President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Youth wing , Comrade Ken Okoli, appreciated the Director General of NYSC Brig. Gen. Y.D. Ahmed for his unwavering commitment to the development of young people in Nigeria.

He also used the opportunity to ask Corps members to embrace the opportunity of national service to make a difference in the lives of Anambra people.

The State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Blessing Ekene Iruma gave a positive review of the Corps members during the three weeks course programme, noting that they participated actively on all Camp activities.

Adjust QuicklShe advised the Corps members to report to their Places of Primary Assignment, PPA and adjust as quickly as possible.

She also encouraged the employers to accept them and treat them as they treat their permanent employees.

Iruma further appreciated governor Soludo for his fatherly role to the youths and used the opportunity to appeal for the inclusion of the Corps members in the ‘One youth, Two Skills’ Solutions of his administration.

The event which marked the end of the three week long programme was attended by many dignitaries including the State Commissioner of Police ably represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police (OPS) DCP Ezekiel Ibrahim, Comptroller of Nigeria Correctional Service DCC Nwana, among others.

Parade and Marching by the Corps members, climaxed the event.
