SON Certifies 29 Companies, Awards 17 Companies In Ebonyi State

The Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria has given awards and Certificates  to  17 Deserving Companies out 29 Certified companies with 62 products who have passed Mandatory Conformity Assessment Program (MAN CAP).
The Awards ceremony and issuing of of Certificates took place at  former Multipurpose Hall located at Old Cabinet Office, in Abakaliki the State Capital
The Director- General, Standard Organization of Nigeria SON, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okereke, who was represented by the Head Southeast Regional Operational Directorate, Mr Chukwuma Aharanwa disclosed in his address.
Okereke said the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) is a mandatory product certification scheme put in place by SON to ensure that all locally manufactured products in the country conform to the relevant Nigerian Industrial Standard (NIS) before such products are presented for sale in the market or exported.
“I am indeed delighted to welcome you all to this auspicious event set aside by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Ebonyi State office to present the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificate to merit companies”
“As Nigeria’s apex Bureau of standards, it is our duty and responsibility to acquaint, inform and educate you our esteemed Stakeholders on Standards and standardization activities. The application of Standards in business whether manufacturing or production, is to create value and the value created makes businesses connect seamlessly irrespective of the location of such enterprise”
” In its standardization and quality assurance drive, SON has put in place policies and initiatives to ensure value is created for the overall sustenance of the consumers and country at large. Some of these policies and initiatives are seen in the services SON provides to MSMEs, which includes but is not limited to:
Subsidized sale of Standards to MSMEs.
Subsidized Certification charges.
Subsidized Laboratory testing charges.
SONCAP-Import Permit at subsidized service charge to support the importation of raw materials and equipment. Inclusion in all Technical Committees on Standards elaboration.
Recommendation of MSMEs with certified products for financing.

On her part, the SON State Coordinator, Engr Ugwueche Rose expressed  happiness over the third presentation of the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Program (MANCAP) certificate to merit companies. “Today’s occasion has summed up the number of certified companies in Ebonyi State up to 29 with sixty two (62) certified products”.
“Knowing fully well that there is no short cut to standardization, I am pleased to say that the certification of these products today is a clear indication of how far the recipients have come wearing the coat of hard work and dedication on the journey of conformity of their products to Nigerian Industrial Standards and the resilience, dedication and expertise of SON Ebonyi State Office Team. Note that this Certificate stands as a testimonial of the good quality and acceptability of these products in our country Nigeria and the world at large”
“Standards Organisation of Nigeria Ebonyi State Office since its establishment in February 2022, hasbeen working tirelessly to ensure that products manufactured or sold in the state are safe for consumption. The state office in its effort and with the collaboration of ESMEDA has ensured that message of standardization and quality assurance is spread across all the 13 Local Government Areas and various manufacturing and retail sector in the state. In other word, the organization has been on massive sensitization and quality assurance activities within the State for the past two year which yielded the fruits we are reaping in today’s occasion”. She informed.
She used the forum to call on all Manufacturers, Importers and Exporters who are yet to certify their locally manufactured products or to register their imported product,to come  to their office at Cabinet office, first floor wing B and begin the process of certification or registration of their product.
Two of the awardees, Dr Ikenna Emeagi in charge of Aguwa Aluminum and Mwabueze Rapuluchukwu, in charge of Rachina Food and Beverage Limited promised that they will continue to maintain the standard having received this award and certificate.
However, Dr Ikenna Urged Nigeria Youths to Venture in the aluminum business as he can help to train and establish the Youths for tomorrow.
“My aluminum gage is of world standard”. Ikenna said.
