South Africa Leads At 2022 African Track Cycling Championship

South Africa currently tops the medals table on day two of the on-going African Track Cycling Championship with 20 medals, while Egypt’s 15 medals keeps them in second place with Nigeria and Algeria behind in third, with nine medals each.

At the end of day two of the championship, South Africa had 10 Gold, 5 sliver and 5 bronze medals, as Egypt followed with 7 Gold and 4 Silver. Nigeria has 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze medals, while Algeria as 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze medals.

The competition started on July 14th and will end on Sunday, July 17th at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

15 countries are participating in the championship which has 11 different events: sprint, team sprint, time trials (1km/ 500m), Keirin, team pursuit.

Others are individual pursuit, scratch, elimination, ominium, points race and madison for women’s, men’s and juniors categories.
