Southern Borno Leaders Donate ₦210m To Aid Maiduguri Flood Victims

The Leaders and other stakeholders from the Southern Borno Senatorial District donated the sum of 210 Millions to assist Victims of the flood disaster that ravaged Maiduguri and environs.
The Deputy Governor of Borno state Hon, Umar Usman Kadafur and Senator Muhammad Ali Ndume representing the zone lead the delegation of Emirs, Former Deputy Governors,( 9) Local government Chairmen and other stakeholders from the zone, to pay a condolence and Sympathy visit to governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno and that of Shehu of Borno Alhaji Doctor Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-kanemi over the flood incident that occured in Maiduguri last week.
During the visit Senator Muhammad Ali Ndume, Sympathize with the governor Zulum, over the incident, and explained that “We formed a deligation after we heard Your Excellency at state Broadcasting sieking assistance from the Individual, National and International, well -to do so, for that make us to assist, We as stakeholders from Southern Borno People unanimously agreed to contribute to a dedicated account which received over 200, Million to the state government in order to assist in Managing the plight of the displaced victims.”
Presenting cheques to governor Zulum, the Deputy Governor, Umar Usman Kadafur, said that “We are here to commisurate with you and the victims of the devastating flood disaster, and to pray for Allah grant Aljannatul Fiddaus to souls of those who have died and wish the injured ones quick recovery.”
Adding that,”We are also here to present a cheque of 200million to the state government flood basket fund, and we want assure you that you are not alone as the people of Southern Borno are strongly behind you in this trying comment, and more donations are still expected which would be channeled judiciously to the state government in providing relief items to the victims and the re-building process.” he said.
He lamented that; “Your Excellency we are here on behalf of the Southern Borno People and we are not here alone but with Four of Our Emirs of Biu, Alhaji Mustapha Umar Mustapha (11), Uba Alhaji Ali Ismaila Mamza, Shani Alhaji Nasir Muhammad Mailafiya, and that of Gwoza Local government area, Alhaji Mustapha Idrisa Timta, and many other stakeholders in the zone.” he added.
In his response; Governor Zulum, of Borno, expressed his deepest appreciation to the deputy governor and the entire people of Southern Borno for not only coming in large numbers to sympathise with him and the people of Borno state, adding that “But also donated a huge amount which will be used transparently the. purpose intended.”
Zulum, therefore urged the people of Southern Borno Senatorial District to unite despite their differences of tribes, and religious: pointing out that unity will bring about more development of the zone.he added.
The stakeholders from Southern Borno had earlier visited His Royal Highness The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Doctor Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-kanemi, to express condolence and Sympathy to him and seek prayers to prevent for the occurrence of such disaster and donated to his Royal Highness The sum of 10 million Naira.
