SpaceX to Invest $1.8 Billion in Florida for Starship Expansion

318

SpaceX plans to invest at least $1.8 billion to expand its Starship program by building new launchpads and processing facilities on Florida’s Space Coast.

This expansion aims to enhance the development and testing of the next-generation rocket intended for satellite missions and lunar exploration. The investment is anticipated to create 600 new full-time jobs by 2030.

The company is looking to develop two Florida launch sites: one at NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre and another at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Construction on the 39A Starship site is already underway. However, regulatory approvals are still pending, with the U.S. Air Force leading the environmental review.

Concerns have been raised by competitors about potential risks of rocket explosions causing significant damage. Despite past explosions in Texas, SpaceX views these events as critical learning experiences to advance its rapid development strategy.
