The Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Honourable Abbas Tajudeen and his deputy, Honourable Benjamin Kalu have felicitated the Publisher of the ThisDay Newspaper, Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, on his 64th birthday.
They said Obaigbena, who is also the Chairman of the Arise News, has paid his dues as a patriotic Nigerian and a media mogul.
Noting Nduka’s invaluable contributions to the entrenchment of democracy in Nigeria through the media, the leaders said the media mogul used his God-given talent to promote the unity and stability of the country.
The Speaker was elated that Mr. Obaigbena is marking his 64th birthday as an accomplished Nigerian, who remains a role model to upcoming publishers and journalists.
He urged Obaigbena and other media owners to continue contributing their quota to the growth and development of Nigeria.
Speaker Abbas wished Nduka Obaigbena more fruitful years in sound health as well as God’s protection and blessings.
On his part, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Benjamin Kalu noted the contributions of Obaigbena in the growth of journalism profession in Nigeria and Africa.
He said despite the challenges confronting the media industry, THISDAY newspaper and Arise TV are competing favorably with many media brands on the African continent.
The Deputy Speaker, described Obaigbena as a colossus who has through his own consistent and concerted efforts supported the ambitions of many in the profession.
The Deputy Speaker said, “I congratulate my friend and brother, the media guru, Prince Nduka Obaigbena as he turns 64 today. His tremendous contributions in the media industry are well noted and the impact immensely felt. He has contributed a great deal in the promotion journalism profession in the country and beyond.
“Aside his laudable innovations that have shaped Nigeria’s media industry for decades, Obaigbena has also played notable role in the Nigeria’s Political Reform. As he turns 64, I wish him a wonderful birthday celebration and many more fruitful years ahead,” he added.
