The Nasarawa United FC and Nasarawa Amazon FC supporters club have been urged to be disciplined and committed in any sports activities within and outside the state.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Lucky Isaac stated this during the inauguration of the newly elected officials of the supporters’ clubs of the two Football teams, held in Lafia, the state capital.

Isaac tasked the new Leadership with the responsibility of galvanizing moral, psychological and physical support for both teams to achieve success in the domestic football leagues.

He said; “Today, we are inaugurating an independent Supporters’ Club which will be affiliated with the Management of the Football Clubs, Ministry, and State Football Association.

“You are to work in synergy with the affected football clubs, give them your maximum support, desist from any unwholesome practice because it’s because of them you are existing as Supporters’ Club…You must therefore establish a good working relationship with the management of the two Football clubs and the technical crew to add value to the clubs and for the overall benefit of the state.”

“You cannot be in Nasarawa United and Amazon supporters club at the same time, the chairmen of both supporters clubs should go back and recruit their supporters for various groups.

“As you have been inaugurated now, it is left for you to start preparing for the start of the league…We want the supporters club to differentiate themselves from fans and others, they need to be identified by their dressing and their stan at every sporty event,” the Commissioner explained.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Isa Mohammed underscored the importance of supporters’ clubs to football teams, saying “they play significant roles and must be guided by the constitution and code of conduct.”

He said that the ministry would ensure that the clubs are carried along both at home and outside the State.

Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated officials, the Chairman of the supporters’ Clubs of Nasarawa United FC, Mr. Jibril Ali, and his counterpart from Nasarawa Amazons FC, Mr. Adamu Shigafata, both appreciated the ministry for finding them worthy of the appointments.

They vowed to bring their experiences to bear even as they pledged their commitment to the duties entrusted to them.

The inaugurated members of the new leadership will serve for a tenure of three years.
