Sports Enthusiast Urges Government To Hire Professionals To Boost Sector

The chairman of the Board of Royal Master’s School and Christ Collage, Samuel Olatunji, who is a sports enthusiast, has urged the Federal Government to employ professionals in order to boost the sports industry in Nigeria.

Olatunji made the statement in an interview with Voice of Nigeria during the 15th annual inter-house sports of Royal Master’s school, located at Ikeja in Lagos State, South-Western, Nigeria. The theme of this year inter-house sports was Strength and Unity.

“Let government employ experts who are professionals, know the trade, have good characters and have good track records,” Olatunji said. “We need to learn to cooperate together. We need to also appreciate the unique talents of the children.”

 

“Sports is a good career for many talented students and it has brought friendship, excitement,  laughter and togetherness to various people across the globe,” he added.

“There are children who are not stars in the academic world but are stars in many sporting activities. We should recognise the gifts of God in the lives of such children and we should help them to develop their full potentials.”

In the same vein, the Executive Director of Royal Master’s school, Seniorba Olatunji, also urged the Federal Government to boost the sports industry by getting the young talented youths in country,

“The government should identify children who are talented and nuture them,” Seniorba said. “Sport is important in the lives of children because it is all round development, physically, mentally, emotionally and socially.”

“Today’s event is meant for children to interact, to do things together in unity as the theme indicates strength and unity,” she added. “There is team work, collaboration, that means doing things together because in life, we need one another and no one is an island.”

Interestingly, at the peak of the event, there were lots of sport activities, performed by the children and also the parents and teachers participated in the sports.

At the end of the inter-house sports competition, Green house which is popularly known as Peace house won the overall best.
