Sports minister yet to decide NBBF reconciliation committee’s report
The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has revealed that stakeholders in the game are still waiting for Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, to decide on the report of the seven-man panel, which was set up to reconcile the warring parties in the sport and also organise a peaceful election for the leadership of the body.
The immediate past NBBF Vice President, Babs Ogunade, who is also a member of the Reconciliation Committee, said the sports ministry is expected to outline the NBBF’s next line of action, including elections and other issues confronting basketball in the country.
“The Reconciliation Committee sat for over one month before submitting its final report to the Sports Ministry. The report has been with the minister for over two weeks now.”
“As the head of sports in Nigeria, the minister needs to make a statement on the report for NBBF to fashion the way forward on the elections. There is nothing that can be done now till the minister speaks on the report.”
“However, the FIBA deadline of January 30 for the NBBF election still stands,” he said.
