Spotify Names Nissi EQUAL Africa Ambassador for October

Spotify has announced Nigerian multi-talented artist Nissi Ogulu as its EQUAL Africa Ambassador for October.

Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.

Okumu described Nissi as ‘a representative of the new generation of African creative women excelling across music, art, and technology.’

She said Nissi, who is also a visual artist and engineer, embodies versatility and innovation, blending Afrobeats, funk, and soul with inspiring messages through her music.

According to her, “Nissi’s achievements go beyond music, as she was part of the team that designed the Bentley Bentayga SUV, making her one of the few black women to contribute to such a global project.”

Okumu noted that Spotify’s EQUAL Africa initiative continues to amplify the voices of women across the continent by giving them visibility and resources to connect with global audiences.

In her reaction, Nissi commended the initiative for empowering female artistes.

She urged women to be confident and pursue their passions despite challenges in male-dominated industries.
