Civil society organisation is advocating for more participation of citizens at the grassroots to ensure good governance at the Local Government level in the country.
This was made known at a one day Public Policy Dialogue organised by the Democracy Vanguard in collaboration with PERL- ECP in Abuja, Nigeria.
One of the Conveners of the event, Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe said “unless local government areas are developed there would be mass migration from rural to urban centres.”
Ambassador Ugokwe said: “collective efforts by all Nigerians are prerequisites for achieving good leadership and service delivery at the grassroots.”
“Local Governments are the panacea for national growth and development.”
Other stakeholders at the Citizens Leadership Dialogue Service: Public Policy Dialogue on Good governance and service delivery also advocated for reforms in local government administration through constitutional amendments.
