A proactive initiative is currently in progress to launch a vigorous tree-planting campaign in Taraba State, aimed at tackling various environmental challenges.

Aishatu Barde, the Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, announced on Wednesday in Jalingo that “the decision to take action was prompted by the repercussions of the recent flood catastrophe experienced in certain areas of the state.”

Barde emphasized that the governor has escalated his endeavours to provide relief materials to communities grappling with ecological issues.

She further mentioned that the government has made contact with “international partners,” some of whom have expressed their willingness with the state on this initiative.

As per her statement, preparations are well underway for the Taraba ACReSAL project in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment. The project aims to launch “a proactive tree-planting campaign” in Jalingo, the capital city of the state.

Additionally, she revealed that Governor Agbu Kefas has engaged CUTEC E&E Limited, a German company, to assist in transforming the overall appearance of the state’s environment.

In the meeting, “the governor discussed environmental change, waste management and treatment, environmental laws, and accessibility to the carbon credit scheme by the German government and European Union,” she said.
