Students in Diaspora Partner with NANS on Global Welfare

The National Association Of Nigerian Students In Diaspora has promised to be good ambassadors for Nigeria.

The new President of the association Comrade Juwon Fayomi, made the promise at the Inauguration Ceremony And Public Lecture 2025 of the association.

He said that the over 2.5 million Nigeria students in Diaspora would continue to contribute to the development of Nigeria.

He said that “the development of the federal Republic of Nigeria is a collective responsibility.”

Comrade Fayomi also promised more collaboration with NANS Nigeria towards improved welfare for Nigerian students.

He pledged more developmental Initiatives during his tenure.

Making Nigeria Proud

The Father of the Day for the occasion, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu commended the members of the National Association of Nigerian Students In Diaspora for always making Nigeria proud.

He advised them not to relent in contributing their own quota to laundering the image of Nigeria in the various countries they find themselves in.

The traditional ruler however lamented the disrespect of Nigerian green passports at some airports.”It shouldn’t be so” HRM. Asadu said.

Stay away from trouble

He told the students and the newly elected executives to expand our horizons, re-orient ourselves, stay away from trouble and love one another.

Other speakers at the lecture commended the peaceful conduct of the diaspora students and urged them to keep it up.

The highpoint of the event which was moderated by Ms. Emehin Emmanuella Oluwadamilola, was the simultaneous swearing in of the newly elected excos in various countries. Including – Comr Juwon Chris Fayomi – President NANS Diaspora (a PhD student in Australia); Rev Comr Okoye Chikelue C – Vice President NANS Diaspora (a Doctor of Dental Medicine/Surgery student in South Western University, Phinma Philippines; Comr Lasma Garba – Secretary General NANS Diaspora (a PhD student of Mechanical Engineering, Lovely Professional University India); Comr Aliyu Sani Adamu, Business Admin Procurement Logistics Student, Cavendish University, Uganda), Comr Anita Solarin – Public Relations Officer (a student of Public Management major in International Relations, University of Pretoria, South Africa.

The theme of the annual lecture was  “NANSD – A Global Panacea For Reshaping The Image Of Nigeria Worldwide.”

The National Association Of Nigerian Students In Diaspora Inauguration/Oath taking ceremony was attended by several dignitaries who provided insights on the them.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Students Engagements, Comrade Sunday Dayo Asefon urged the newly elected leaders to be lenient in their dealings and learn to accommodate all students.

He noted that his office is always open to the National Association Of Nigerian Students In Diaspora (NANS-Diaspora) for any support needed.

The Acting Head of the Nigerian High Commission in London, Ambassador Mohammed Maidugu urged the Nigerian Students in Diaspora to be good ambassadors of Nigeria as their actions shape people’s perception of Nigeria.

Showcase Nigeria’s rich culture

He stressed that Students in Diaspora have the Unique opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s rich culture and values to the global community.

The Nigerian High Commissioner in Australia, Jane Adams pointed out that by Nigerian students in Diaspora working together and supporting one another, Nigerian students in Diaspora can build a strong and vibrant community that benefits both Nigerians and various host countries.

In his good will message, the Vice President External Affairs of the National Association Of Nigerian Students Comrade Kenechukwu pledged that NANS is always available to collaborate with NANS-Diaspora.

The immediate past Vice President of NANS-Diaspoa and President of Nigerian Students in China Engr. Tijjani Musa, behalf of the outgoing executives wished the newly elected official the best in their tenure.
