Representatives of the Organized Labour on Friday walked out of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, venue for a scheduled meeting with the Nigerian government representatives.

The meeting was scheduled to hold at the conference room of the Chief of Staff to the President’s office but few minutes after getting in, the representatives of labour led by the President of Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero and his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Festus Osifo who was represented by TUC Secretary, Nuhu Toro departed the venue.

One of the reasons for departing the venue was said to be lack of quorum.

“The meeting did not form a quorum. If there is no quorum, we are a people that operate on the basis of process. So, if there’s no quorum in a meeting what do you do? You will adjourn for lack of quorum.

“There was nobody to meet with. The Chief of Staff was not there, they are taking us like small children,” one of the angry labour leaders was overheard saying as they walked away from the venue.

The two parties had adjourned their meeting on Wednesday 26th July with the plan to reconvene on Friday, to fine-tune ways of making available palliatives to Nigerians, as they grapple with the effects of removal of subsidy on premium motor spirit.
