Subsidy Removal: Stakeholders laud President Tinubu

Following the recent broadcast of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the palliative measures being taken to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy, Nigerians have continued to react to the commitment of the president to bring relief to Nigerians.

Mr Yusuf Muhammed Gunu, immediate past commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development in Niger state, north central Nigeria has described the president’s speech as a welcome development.

Am overwhelmed by the speech of Mr president in terms of providing palliatives measures that will go a long way in reducing the hardship being faced by Nigerians and also to provide ease of transportation by providing buses across the 774 local government areas of the country including the Federal capital territory.”

Mr Yusuf Gunu explained that the removal of subsidy is the only way out for the country to move forward economically.

Since the subsidy payment is. not captured in the last budget and the new government is left with no option than to let Nigerians know that subsidy is gone for good and I salute his courage for Nigeria to move forward”.                   

On the issue of the planned protest by the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC and Trade Union Council TUC said; “I appealed to the  leadership of the union to reconsider their industrial action and give the present adminstration more time to implement its policies and programs aimed at lifting people out of hardship as proposed by President Tinubu and set a time frame for the president to execute such policies before carrying out any industrial actions”

The former commissioner of Agriculture also urged the federal government on measures to be taken to ensure proper monitoring of the palliatives in various states and the FCT.

During the distribution of the palliatives, the federal government should ensure that each state that collects the palliative is published to the various medium for proper monitoring and put in machineries that will endure those items reach to the hands of people that were meant for thereby bringing relief to Nigerians”.

He urged Nigerians to remain steadfast and give the present administration more time and expressed optimism the Tinubu administration will transform the economic and social well-being of Nigerians.
